Dr. Gautam Vangipuram is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in vitreoretinal disease management. He grew up near Chicago and attended the prestigious Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy for high school. He received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Bioengineering and graduated Summa cum Laude from the University of Pittsburgh. He returned to his home state for his medical school training and graduated with honors from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He completed his surgical internship at the Intermountain Medical Center in Utah and his Ophthalmology residency at the University of Washington in Seattle. During his residency training, he worked at six hospitals in the Seattle area including the only Level 1 trauma center for five states. He completed his fellowship training at the world-renowned The Retina Institute in St. Louis. There, he authored several journal articles, lectured at the local and national level, and was consistently recognized for his commitment to teaching and providing exceptional care.
He is excited to bring his expert and compassionate care to the South Bay community. He values the long-term relationships he develops with his patients and is deeply passionate about educating and guiding his patients to a lifetime of high-quality vision. In his spare time, he is an avid skier and tennis player and enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and dog Scout.
